The celebrated “Faces and Crafts” series was first launched by Markus in 2017 after immersing himself in the day-to-day lives of local artisans along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

Through stunning black and white and coloured imagery Markus captures with exquisite authenticity a moment in time from the craftspeoples’ every day work environment.

The first series of portraits are taken in the community of Kinvara, Co Galway. Markus aims to reveal and promote traditional crafts and individual skill sets, and to inspire the next generation to continue these time honoured local crafts.

Following widespread praise for his work, a number of the images were featured in exhibitions kicking off with his first solo exhibition during Ireland’s Culture Night Celebrations in 2017.

The first edition of “Faces and Crafts” is one of an ongoing series, with the second edition already in progress.

If you would like to feature your own craft in the series or would like to recommend an artisan to be featured, please get in touch with Markus. Click here to purchase your copy of the book now.
